How to Pitch your Pink Golf Balls from a Bad Lie

Pitching from bad lies around the golf course. This is something we all struggle with from time to time. This situation has been compounded by the awful weather conditions at this time of year. It is also relevant in the summer months when other factors come into play. Everybody eventually lands in a bad lie, even pink golfers. A good shot infrequently also finishes up in a divot. It is really annoying but that’s the way it is.

Pitching with your golf irons successfully from a bad lie cuts strokes from your score and positions you with confidence for your next shot. A key to pitching from a bad lie is maintaining your focus.

Pitching your pink golf ball from a divot or bare ground is not as tough as it appears. In truth, it’s reasonably simple, The main thing is choosing the right golf club and making the relative adjustments. Choose a golf club with a sharp leading edge . It is important to keep your hands ahead of the ball. Take a steeper angle of attack on the downswing. No single club is perfect for hitting from a bad lie. Whilst a sand wedge is alluring, it is better to hit a pitching wedge or a nine iron. Their sharper leading edges increase your odds of striking the pink golf ball more solidly.

Golf club selection, is also very crucial. Sometimes we have just the right club we will feel confident hitting our pitching shot with. Some ladies even buy pitching irons to perfect the shot but find it takes time to go out and practise with it so you can get confidence with your distances. I have seen ladies give up after using pitching wedge a few times because it hasn’t done the job for them immediately but it definitely takes staying power so stick with it and you will be surprised.

Also another key to hitting your golf ball from bad lies is your angle of attack. After choosing your golf club assume a balanced stance with the hands ahead of the ball and the club shaft and your left arm ( for right-handers ) forming a direct line down to the ball which should be positioned in the middle of your stance or towards the back of it. Lean forward a little. The ball position and weight shift inspire a steeper angle of attack.

The downswing is exactly the same as if hitting a pitch shot from a clean golf green lie, except for the wrists. Set these a little earlier than usual in the takeout. Also an important factor is the centering of your weight over the ball. Coil your higher body over your flexed right knee. As you coil, you’ll move your weight barely backwards, positioning yourself to hit the pink golf ball. You will need a little more power to punch the clubhead down into the back of the ball, driving it forward. A golf ball landing in deep rough is one of the occasional times on a golf course where additional strength is required. Your main goal here is just to get off the grass and onto the golfing green,

Also, play around with your various golf clubs. Experimentation will tell you which clubs you hit best from which lie. Naturally, not every pitch shot will be perfect. Try hitting the ball near to the pin by landing on spots around the golfing green, for example one or two feet in front of the hole, and letting the ball roll. Or, try using the green’s contours to help the shot to the hole.

Landing in a bad lie does not have to ruin a good hole. If you maintain focus, select the right pink golf club, and make changes to your position and swing, you are going to be able to hit successfully from a bad lie. Players with low golfing handicaps are adept at this. We have all seen them on the golf course and a thought comes to mind that we would love to play like that. Players with high golfing handicaps, on the other hand, need to practice this. Once you’ve developed confidence in your capability to do so, you will not worry about landing in a bad lie. It will become second nature and your pink golf clubs will be your best friend on the golf course.
